CORPUS LINGUISTICS 2015: CALL FOR PARTICIPATION Registration is now open for the eight international Corpus Linguistics conference (CL2015), which will be held at Lancaster University from Tuesday 21st July 2015 to Friday 24th July 2015. The main conference will be preceded by a workshop day on Monday 20th July. We are pleased to issue our first official call for participation, which includes details on registering for the workshop day and the main conference, on-campus accommodation, and the first announcement of bursaries available to postgraduate students attending CL2015. MAIN CONFERENCE: PROGRAMME The main conference will run over four days, and will include plenary lectures from Douglas Biber, Sylviane Granger, Michaela Mahlberg, and Alan Partington. The conference has three thematic streams and a general programme: * Stream A: A tribute to Geoffrey Leech * Stream B: Discourse, Politics and Society * Stream C: Language learning and teaching * General Programme A draft timetable will be made available as soon as possible; for now, we have listed the papers and panels in each of these four categories on the conference website (http://ucrel.lancs.ac.uk/cl2015/programme.php ). A list of poster titles is also available. Participants are invited to register for the full conference. It is also possible to register for an individual day (or days) of the conference. Reduced postgraduate rates are available, and we also offer early bird rates for the main conference. WORKSHOP DAY We invite registration for the pre-conference workshop day. You can register for this day either in addition to or separately from the main conference. The following workshops will run: * Academic corpora: Development, exploration and application * Creating & analysing pragmatically annotated dialogue corpora in Dart * Working with web corpora * Brainstorming the next generation of corpus software * Challenges in the management of large corpora (CMLC3) * The corpus and the historian: Using corpora and corpus linguistics in historical investigations * Topics in corpus linguistics for social media research A reduced registration fee for postgraduate students is available. POSTGRADUATE BURSARIES We are pleased to announce that we are able to offer a limited number of bursaries to postgraduate students attending the conference. Bursaries will cover the cost of registration to the workshop day; the full main conference; and up to five nights' on-campus accommodation. Holders of bursaries must, however, cover all their own travel costs. To qualify, you must be a current full-time research student at any university worldwide. Applications will be considered complete if two email messages have been received at cl2015@lancaster.ac.uk, before 13th April: 1) A message from the applicant stating name, department, university, degree, field of research, and reason for applying for a bursary. In this email, please be sure to include proof of your student status (e.g. a letter from your department, or a scan of your student identification card or document); 2) A letter of support from your academic supervisor, stating how they believe you would benefit from winning a bursary and attending the conference. All postgraduates attending the conference are welcome to apply, but priority will be given to applicants presenting papers or posters at the main conference. SUMMER SCHOOLS Participants, especially junior researchers, may also be interested in Lancaster's (free-to- attend) summer schools in Corpus Linguistics. These take place the week before CL2015.
